The first cycling tour I made was in 1962. It was about 1000 kilometers and I crossed all over The Netherlands in 10 days. Since then, I have made cycling tours in 31 countries and have kept daily logs during those trips since 1969. A few of these logbooks were used partly or completely, together with photographs taken, to prepare websites. The following sites are available in English:

Hiking and Biking
Beautiful page of Ant Bijlsma and Peter Reuderink from The Netherlands. Despite the graphics, it is fast loading and provides very pleasant reading, not only about bicycle touring, but also about hiking in general.
AQ-Cycling
The Dutchman Dennis Waterman cycled a lot (in Europe) and he gives very detailed information about the routes he followed on some of his trips. The introduction page contains a very interesting essay about climbs and col classification.

Heinz Stücke
Among the world cyclists, German Heinz Stücke is definitely the most legendary and record-keeping. He started in 1960 and has not been home ever since. It's no use summarizing his achievements; got to this site, hosted by BikeChina, where he tells it all himself. I happen to have met Heinz twice personally, both times in Hong Kong.

In June 1993 Ian Burns set off from England on a solo round-the-world trip by bike. The journey covered 13,564 miles in 14 countries and took 15 months. I love this no-nonse website with short stories from several countries.
